With a view to developing regional small and medium enterprises, the 2nd South Asian Countries SME Summit will kick off Thursday in the city.
A total of 300 representatives from different sectors including businesses and SME Forums, plus sector experts and policymakers from the SAARC countries will attend the summit at Hotel 71 in Bijoynagar of the capital.
The summit is jointly organised by South Asian Countries’ SME Forum and National Association of Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB), in association with the Industry Ministry and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), said a press release.
Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu will inaugurate the summit as the chief guest while the South Asian Countries’ SME Forum President Mirza Nurul Gani Shovon will chair it.
Dhaka University Professor Dr Momtaz Uddin, also chairman of advisory council of NASCIB, will present a keynote paper titled ‘SME’s in South Asia with Special Reference to Bangladesh’ at the summit.
Fifteen business persons of the South Asian region will be recognised in the summit for their outstanding contributions to respective economies and national development.
