A well-composed hundred from Pinak Ghosh, supported by some tight bowling, guided Bangladesh Under-19 to a massive 171-run win against the West Indies U19 Thursday.
The win at Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium meant the home side also sealed the three-match youth ODI series 2-0.
Pinak scored 109 as Bangladesh registered 299/5 after winning the toss. The left-handed opening batsman faced 135 balls and hammered nine boundaries. The initial dominance enabled skipper Mehedi Hasan to free his arms in the latter stage as he remained unbeaten with a thunderous 54 off just 26 balls that included seven fours and a six. Nazmul made 79.
The Bangladesh bowlers later made sure the visitors suffered in their run-chase before eventually bundling them out for a paltry 128. Spinners Mehedi and Saleh Ahmed Shawon were once again behind the destruction as they bagged three wickets each. Keemo Paul’s 25 was the highest for the Windies side.
