Harsh Bardhan Shringla, the newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, has arrived in Dhaka to join his job.
The Indian diplomat, who served as Indian Ambassador to Thailand, arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:50pm Thursday by a Thai Airways flight, reports UNB.
Shringla will succeed former Indian High Commissioner Pankaj Saran who left Dhaka on December 19 on completion of his diplomatic assignment as an Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh.
Earlier, Shringla expressed his commitment to take Dhaka-Delhi ties to 'a new height' through strengthening bilateral relations.
He expressed this commitment while speaking at a farewell reception hosted by the Bangladesh ambassador in Thailand for him on January 6.
Shringla, the new Indian envoy to Bangladesh, has held various positions in New Delhi and in Indian Missions in Paris, Hanoi and Tel Aviv in his more than 30 years of diplomatic career.
He also served as Counsellor in the Permanent Mission of India to the UN in New York and as Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Durban, South Africa.
