Priyanka Chopra, former Miss World and Bollywood star recently bagged the Favourite Actress in a New TV series” at the People’s Choice Awards for Quantico. Initially best known for her Bollywood credits, the star broke out of the domestic scene, creating international waves. The Quantico star has once again, made bigger headlines as news about her starring in the big-screen adaptation of Baywatch are ripe.
As talks go underway with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, Priyanka’s role is one that is set to be racy and sexy, embodying the key elements of the popular American drama series. “She had to look sexy, stylish and complex. Priyanka has been approached to play the leading lady who, incidentally, is also the baddie. There is a scheduling conflict since she is filming Quantico and the show has been renewed for the second season. But the makers are keen to sign the Indian beauty,” a source close to the Baywatch production informed the Mirror. The source also informed that the idea was to sign an actress who could really do justice to iconic, red, Baywatch bikini.
Chopra’s rep Anjula Acharia Bath confirmed rumormills saying, “Yes, Priyanka Chopra is in talks to join Dwayne Johnson in Baywatch.”
As far as the plot is concerned, the movie may just be taking a comedic route as writers Damian Shannon and Mark Swift write the latest draft for the script. The details of the plot are unclear, but sources close to the project confirmed the rumours of the movie being on the funny side, as stated in a report by the Variety.
Although the Bollywood star has yet to work her way through scheduling conflicts as filming for the second season of Quantico rolls out, she is still set on playing the villain, reports the Hollywoodreporter.com.
With the movie set to be helmed by Seth Gordon, it tells the story of a cadre of elite, attractive lifeguards who patrol the crowded recreational Malibu beach in Los Angeles. San Andreas actress Alexandra Daddario has confirmed to be playing Summer (portrayed by Nicole Eggert in the original) while model Kelly Rohrbach confirmed her role as C J Parker, originally played by the former playboy playmate Pamela Anderson.
The film will be produced by Dwayne Johnson along with his partner Danny Garcia, via their Seven Bucks production banner. Co producers include Flynn and Ivan Reitman, Michael Berk, Douglas Schwartz and Gregory Bonann.
