At least 178 Indian fishermen, held from different areas on various charges, have been released from Bagerhat Jail.
Jail Super Golam Dastogir said: “They were released on Tuesday afternoon. They will be sent to their country [India] on Wednesday.”
“All the fishermen hailed from Dakkhin Chabbis Parganas of West Bengal and they were set free following the request made by the Indian home ministry,” added the jail super.
