Bangladesh is planning to import another 100 megawatt power from the Palatana plant in India’s Tripura, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said.
Talking to reporters at the Bidyut Bhaban yesterday, the junior minister said that Tripura’s power minister Manik Dey had a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday.
“In that meeting, they discussed importing another 100MW,” Nasrul said.
He added that both parties had in principle also agreed on the same Tk6.43 per unit-rate at which Bangladesh had decided to bring the first 100MW from the same power plant a day before.
Nasrul said that the infrastructure needed for importing the additional 100MW has already been laid.
“Tripura has also shown interest. So, there is no problem in importing that electricity.”
