A union parishad member has allegedly been abducted by miscreants from the district town.
The victim is Rahmat Elahi, 40, ward no 6 member of Magura Union under Jhikargacha upazila of the district.
In the incident, Rahmat's brother Emamul Hoque filed a general diary (GD) with Kotwali model police station on Sunday morning.
According to the GD, Rahmat went to the district town on Saturday morning and since then he remained missing. Besides, his cell phone was found switched off.
When contacted, Kotwali model police station Sub-inspector Mokaddes Rahman said they have been carrying out drives to rescue the kidnapped UP member.
