JL faction attacks rivals in Pabna, 8 shot
Eight people, including two women, have received bullet injuries when a faction of Jubo League opened fire on its rivals in Mondal Para of the district's Sadar upazila.
The injured are Matya Ujjal, 44, Mahbub, 30, Hamidul, 28, Monowara Khatun, 36, Nasim, 25, Kanchan, 31, Hanif, 32 and Parvin AKhter, 40.
Suspected thief beaten to death in Lakshmipur
A suspected thief has been beaten to death in Agarpara area under Ramganj upazila in Lakshmipur.
The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained yet.
Jammu and Kashmir chief minister dies
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, who was admitted to a hospital in Delhi two weeks ago, has died. He was 79.
Sayeed was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences or AIIMS hospital in the national capital on December 24.
Jamaat's hartal underway
The nationwide dawn-to-dusk general strike enforced by the Jamaat-e-Islami is underway.
The hartal began at 6am Thursday. No untoward incident took place till filing the report at 9:30am.
Jamaat called the countrywide hartal protesting the Supreme Court verdict that upheld death penalty for its party chief.
