Stocks closed marginally higher yesterday, ending several flat sessions.
The benchmark index DSEX rose over 25 points or 0.6% to 4,643.
The Shariah index DSES gained marginally almost 6 points to 1,118. The blue chip comprising index DS30 was up over 7 points to 1,764.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange Selective Category Index CSCX soared 51 points to 8,638.
The DSE turnover surged to Tk608 crore, down more than 38% over the previous session. Of the total 324 traded scrips, 204 advanced, 83 declined and 37remained unchanged on DSE.
Investors’ attention was mostly concentrated on engineering sector contributing over 21% of the DSE’s turnover, followed by fuel and power 17.8% and pharmaceuticals 14.5%.
Among the major sectors including bank, non-banking financial institutions, pharmaceuticals, cement, fuel and power, and textile increased while food and allied, and telecommunications ended in red.
Beximco Limited, the flagship company of business conglomerate Beximco Group, continued to become the highest turnover leader.
It was followed by Summit Alliance Port Limited, United Power Generation and Distribution Company Limited, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, Summit Power, Emerald Oil Industries, Khulna Power Company and KDS Accessories.
