The cabinet has approved the draft of air transport agreement between the government of the people's republic of Bangladesh and the government of the United States of America.
The regular cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave the approval.
Cabinet Secretary Shafiul Alam briefed the reporters after the meeting at the secretariat on Monday afternoon.
Direct flight between Bangladesh and US remained suspended from 2006 till 2013. It was resumed in 2013 through negotiations.
Shafiul Alam said: "Though the direct flight between resumed in 2013, we have to face many problems as there was no agreement in this regard.
"After signing the agreement, all those problems will be resolved. The flights will be run following proper system."
