Launching of a social movement has become an essence of the time for freeing the society from the aggression of drug abuse to save future generations.
Officials, experts and civil society members expressed the opinion today at a post-rally discussion arranged here at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner to launch observance of the month-long anti-drug campaign and publicity-2016.
Earlier, the district administration and District Drugs and Narcotics Control Department (DNCD) in association with different social organisations and NGOs brought out a rally in Rangpur city.
Government officials, youths, students, civil society members and activists of different organisations including Light House, ‘Fera’, ‘Susthya Jiban’, ‘Rang’, ‘Sangkochil’ and RDRS Bangladesh took part in the rally.
The campaign is being conducted with a view to create awareness among the common people about the effects of drug abuse, reports BSS.
After the rally, Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar addressed the discussion as chief guest with Deputy Director of the DNCD Dilara Zaman in the chair. Additional Police Super Abdullah Al Faruk and Civil Surgeon Dr Mozammel Hossain addressed it as special guests.
The speakers put emphasis on creating awareness among the common people against drug addiction.
They called for saving the young generations from the curse of drug addiction and said the worsening situation might create real barriers for normal growth and flourishing talents of the younger generations.
The chief guest called for sensitising young generations and parents about catastrophe of drug aggression through social movement.
