With the release of new album Bohu Durey, the popular soft-rock band of the 90s, Winning, is back to business. The new album was uncovered at the Bengal Lounge of Dhaka Club last Friday. A total of 12 brand new tracks featuring songs depicting mainly love and nature are composed in the album, marking the 12-year break.
The band’s current line-up, Zaman Ali Chandan on vocal and guitar, Shamsur Nur Ranjan on drums and vocal, Mashiur Rahman Shelly on bass and Biplob Ashraf on keys, were present at the album launching event. Country’s notable singers and musicians including Topon Chowdhury, Fuad Naser Babu, Labu Rahman, Ashiquzzaman Tulu and Labib Mahmud were also at the event and reminisced old memories of the band.
Talking about the album’s name, Ranjan said: “Today we mark the 33rd anniversary of the band. Along the journey, the members of the band gradually become isolated from each other, some of whom went abroad, away from friends, the country and most surprisingly from music. Although, we reminisce our old days, which was full of music and life.”
Chandan shared their experience of the whole wrapping up process of the album. As an expat living in Canada, he had to visit Dhaka several times for album purposes. The mixing and mastering works were wrapped in Phase One Studio in Canada.
Presented by Bellissimo Premium Ice Cream, the album will be available at music stores by January 10. Winning released their self-titled debut album in July of 1991 while their second album Ochena Shohor came out in 1994.
