Foreign Secretary M Shahidul Haque is expected to New Delhi in January.
“I am expected to visit New Delhi this month at the invitation of Indian Foreign Secretary (S Jaishankar) and we are working on the date,” he told the Dhaka Tribune yesterday.
This is more of a return trip by Shahidul than a regular bilateral visit as the Indian foreign secretary visited Bangladesh twice last year. But Shahidul did not undertake any return trip.
Jaishankar came to Dhaka in March, and later in June with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A Foreign Ministry official seeking anonymity said that the foreign secretary was supposed to go to India tomorrow on a two-day visit, but it was postponed due to some unavoidable circumstances.
“The Indian side proposed a new date in the last week of the month and we are working on that,” he said.
