Man shot dead by BSF at Dinajpur border

A Bangladeshi national has been killed in a firing by India's Border Security Force (BSF) near Baragram border in Dinajpur Sadar upazila.

Md Nuruzzaman, 30, son of Shahidur Rahman of the upazila's Baragram Chenpara village, was shot by the border police early Thursday when he crossed Baragram border to enter India around 5am.

He was taken to a local hospital in India where he died hours later.

A flag meeting was held between BSF and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the afternoon over the shooting.

It was decided in the meeting that an autopsy would be performed on Nuruzzaman's body.

The body will be handed over to us after necessary legal procedures are carried out, said Lt Col Korban Ali, commander of Phulbari 29 BGB battalion.
