DSE closed flat

Update : 29 Dec 2015, 09:25 PM

Dhaka stocks closed in flat yesterday after showing fluctuation throughout the day while the investors were on the sidelines a day before the municipal election.

The benchmark index DSEX increased by 4.48 points, closing at 4,596. The blue chip index DS30 rose slightly by 1.69 points ending at 1,742.

“The market closed in flat green zone yesterday, after showing nervousness throughout the day. Profit taking might contribute to early weakness on DSE as traders cashed in on the gains posted last week,” said LankaBangla Securities in its regular market commentary.

The stock broker commented that trading activity was relatively subdued.  Pharma and financial stocks, however, traded high which supported the market in last hour.

The daily total turnover stood at over Tk390 crore which was Tk23 crore lower than the previous session’s value.

Among the traded issues, 140 securities gained and 137 declined, while 45 remained unchanged.

Large cap sectors led the stocks yesterday in terms of transaction value.

Among the major sectors including Cement, Food and Allied, Fuel and Power, Textile and Telco decreased by 0.79%, 0.13%, 1.04%, 0.14% and 0.17% respectively while Bank, Engineering and NBFI went up by 0.39%, 0.98% and 1.26% respectively.

ACI topped the turnover list followed by Beximco Pharma, Square Pharma, Emeraldoil, Qsmdrycell, Aciformula, Singerbd and Kdsaltd.
