The outsiders will have to leave polling areas by Monday 12 midnight as the campaign for municipality polls ends at that time, Election Commissioner Md Shah Newaz has said.
He made the remarks while briefing journalists about the commission's last moment's preparation for the municipality elections.
"None but the voters will be allowed in the polling areas after 12 midnight," Shah Newaz said.
He said ballot papers and other materials for voting have already been sent to the returning officers and those materials will be reached in all polling centres by tomorrow.
"There is still a positive atmosphere for election. So I request the voters to cast their votes without any fear," he added.
The election commission said the returning officers have been asked to take action if anyone violates the electoral code of conduct.
"If we get any report that the returning officers are not taking necessary action, then the commission will take action against the officers," he went on.
Electioneering is scheduled to end Monday night in 234 municipalities that are going to the polls on December 30.
Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will start patrolling from today along with law enforcing agencies to maintain law and order. The BGB troops will remain deployed till December 31.
