'Blast on Ahmadiya mosque an int'l conspiracy'

Update : 26 Dec 2015, 09:12 AM

There is an international conspiracy behind the Friday’s suicide bomb attack on the Ahmadiya mosque in Mochmoil area in Baghmara upazila of Rajshahi, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said.

He also said the incident was linked to all other terrorist attacks took place in the country in the past.

The minister was speaking at a programme organised by Crime Reporters, Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), in Dhaka on Saturday.

The minister asserted that everything is under the control of the government.

He claimed: “We have indentified the persons and arrested them involved in all past incidents.”

“These incidents are taking place to create instability in the country.”

Replying to query, Kamal said it is not clear yet whether it was a suicide bomb blast or not.

He said two people went to the mosque for offering prayers. One of them died during the blast while another managed to flee the scene.

“I think the man who was killed in the bomb blast might have been carrying the bomb," said Kamal.

Police have filed a case against two unidentified persons early Saturday in this connection.

A person was killed and at least 10 others were injured in the incident.
