Eid-e-Miladunnabi being observed

The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, the birth and demise of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), is being observed in the country on Friday with due religious solemnity.

Various Islamic and socio-cultural organisations and political parties have chalked out elaborate programmes, including milad mahfil, discussion and Qurankhwani, to mark the day. Islamic Foundation is holding various programmes, including a milad mahfil, on the occasion.

A milad mahfil will be arranged at Bangabhaban after Asr prayers on Friday.

Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and other satellite TV channels and radio stations are airing special programmes highlighting the significance of the day.

Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia issued messages greeting the country’s people and the Muslim Ummah. 

On this day in 570, the 12th of Rabiul Awal of the Hijri calendar, Muhammad (pbuh) was born in Makkah of Saudi Arabia with divine blessings and messages of peace for mankind. He also passed away on the same day.

The day is a public holiday.
