Police have rescued Saifuzzaman Sohag, a fourth year student of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET), from Mirersarai in Chittagong after 14 days of his abduction.
Sheikh Abdur Rahman Milon, father-in-law of Sohag, told Dhaka Tribune that according to information from two arrestees in this connection police in a drive rescued Sohag on Wednesday. He was on way to Rajshahi from Chittagong.
Sohag, a fourth-year student of mechanical engineering and a secretary to Ruet unit of BCL, was taken away on December 9 by some 6-7 people identifying them as members of law enforcers, said family sources.
Later on December 13, Sohag’s father Akkasuzzaman filed a case with Rajbari police station of Rajshahi.
Meanwhile, a Rajshahi court on Monday granted three days' remand to two persons accused of kidnapping Sohag.
The accused are Engineer Farjadul Islam Miron, 28, former student of RUET and resident of Dakkhinkhan area of Dhaka and Isfaq Yasin Ipu, 21, a second year student of RUET and resident Naodapara area of Rajshahi.
