Police have detained six activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islam, along with hand bombs from a residence in Rampura area in Dhaka.
The detainees are Jakir Hossain, 23, Mohammad Shafique, 25, Mohammad Rony, 25, Mohammad Rumman Hossain, 22, Mohammad Ataur Rahman, 23, and Mohammad Abdul Quader, 24.
Rampura police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam said: “On a tip-off, we have carried out a drive on a residence on Jomodar Goli Lane in Ourbo Olan area of Rampura and detained them with six hand bombs around 11:30pm Monday.”
Besides, police also recovered 2kg of explosive materials from their possession.
The OC went on that: “We suspect the Shibir activists were with a plan to commit subversive acts.”
