The government will launch a helpline for domestic workers to provide them with necessary assistance.
The draft of Domestic Worker Protection and Welfare Policy-2015 was approved by the cabinet on Monday afternoon.
Cabinet Secretary Shafiul Alam briefed the reporters after the cabinet meeting at the secretariat.
He said the policy for domestic workers has been prepared in line with the Labour Act.
The government will chalk out a series of programmes to raise consciousness for curbing torture on domestic helps, he added.
Those who will violate the human rights of the housemaids will be punished under the existing law.
As per the policy, Labour Welfare Foundation will do the management of the domestic workers.
