Police have arrested a Jamaat-e-Islami leader from the residence of Daily Naya Diganta Managing Director Shibbir Mahmud's house in Dhanmondi area in Dhaka.
Mezbah Uddin Bhuiyan, 50, is a leader of Jamaat's central committee.
He was detained in the raid conducted by a team led by Dhanmondi OC (Investigation) Mohammad Helal Uddin around 12:30am Monday.
“Shibbir has claimed that Mezbah is a tenant at his house," OC Mohammad Helal Uddin said.
The detainee is an accused in 13 cases filed with Sudharam police station in Noakhali, he added.
The OC said: “Sudharam police have been informed about it. Mezbah will be handed over to them.”
