Raqibul’s punishment due next month

Update : 20 Dec 2015, 07:43 PM

Led by Bangladesh Cricket Board director Sheikh Sohel, a disciplinary committee has been formed to scrutinise the disgraceful act by match referee Raqibul Hasan. Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan yesterday expressed disappointment over Raqibul’s behaviour and the ill comments the latter made on the BCB high-ups and BPL franchise owners.

Former Bangladesh cricketer Raqibul made degrading comments towards Nazmul, BCB directors Nazmul Karim Tinku and MA Awal Bulu and Barisal Bulls owner Rezwan bin Faruk during his interview with a local news channel.

“Yes, I have heard of the news report,” said the BCB chief yesterday. “I have not seen it yet but people have told me the comments that he (Raqibul) made in the interview. I do not want to make any comment before I see it but this issue has been forwarded to the BCB disciplinary committee.”

The BCB disciplinary committee will submit a report to the board before it sits for its next meeting, likely next month.

“It is true that the match referee’s decision is the final call in a game but what has disappointed the board is his poor comments, those comments were beyond our expectations to be honest with you. So we have decided that the disciplinary committee will take care of the issue and a decision will be made on this in the next BCB meeting,” added Nazmul.

The channel also exposed Raqibul, who was alleged of flipping the coin illegally during the BPL Eliminator between Barisal Bulls and Dhaka Dynamites before threatening the interviewer for publishing such reports.
