Two ruling party-backed mayoral candidates have been fined for violating the electoral code of conduct in Natore on Friday.
A mobile court fined Roksana Mortuza Lili, a mayoral aspirant in Lalpur Municipality, Tk20,000 on Friday night for conducting electoral campaign accompanied by the local lawmaker which is a violation of section 22 and 111(2) of the electoral code of conduct.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (land) Shafiqur Alam fined her.
Earlier in the evening, another Awami League-backed mayoral candidate in Baraigram Municipality area, Abdul Barek, was fined Tk 30,000 for bringing out a motorcade with motorbikes.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (land) Nasrin Banu passed the order. Barek was also fined Tk10,000 on Thursday for committing the same offence.
