Former American Women’s National Basketball Association player and Olympian gold medalist Ruthie Bolton is in Dhaka to conduct a four-day basketball workshop arranged by the American Center at US Embassy Dhaka, in partnership with Nari Uddug Kendra. 48-year-old Bolton, who arrived through the US Department of State’s Sports United programme, will share her experience and conduct workshops with students from four different girls’ schools throughout Bangladesh.
Ruthie Bolton, one of the most successful women in sports, is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, USA female basketball player of the year, Sports Illustrated best woman athlete and one of only four players to be inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2011.
The Sports United programme will end with a final exhibition match with Ruthie Bolton, workshop participants, noted players and the Bangladesh special olympics team. The exhibition match will be held at American International School on Sunday.
