Sammilito Olama Mashayekh Parishad has given a proposal of issuing fatwa against militancy.
Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Ulema Maulana Md Fariduddin Masud gave the proposal during a view-exchange meeting between police and Sammilito Olama Mashayekh Parishad at Police Headquarters on Thursday afternoon.
He said the fatwa will contain the signatures of 100,000 olamas.
Maulana Fariduddin said: "We have to reach the fatwa to the root level including mosques and madrasas so that people engaged in militancy can be diverted from it."
He also said Jamaat-Shibir is involved in militancy in disguise of JMB and Ansarullah Bangla Team.
"So it is not possible to curb militancy without taking action against Jamaat-Shibir," he added.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque appreciated the proposal and said police will help olamas in implementing the fatwa.
While talking about bloggers, he said necessary legal action would be taken if anyone hurts one's religious sentiment.
He also suggested that if anyone's religious sentiment got hurt, he/she should inform the police.
