7 killed in Bandarban road accident 

Seven people have been killed and eight others injured as a truck plunged into a ditch in Lama upazila of Bandarban district. The deceased are Rajib, 40, Robin, 35, Aftab, 55, Amzad, 45, Hassan, 35, Rakib, 40, and Alek, 34. Police said a truck carrying day labourers to a tower construction site for mobile company Grameenphone plunged into a ditch around 7:30am Thursday, killing four people on the spot and injuring the others.

Bus-truck collision kills 2 in Savar 

At least two people have been killed and ten others injured in head-on collision between a truck and a bus on Anwar Jang road in Kamola bus stand area of Savar. The fateful road crash took place in the area on Thursday morning killing Shahidul, 28, of Awkpara Adarsha village in Ashulia, and Ebadul, 32, from Bammara area of Rajbari district.

Two killed in Comilla road accident 

Two passengers of a CNG-run autorickshaw have been killed after a bus rammed into the autorickshaw at Debidar of Comilla. The deceased are Md Abdur Rahim, 35, and Md Shohel, 32. The accident took place on Dhaka-Chittagong highway around 7am Thursday.

Counsilor candidate’s mother allegedly beaten to death by rival 

Mother of a councillor candidate in Gafargaon Municipal polls has allegedly been killed by the supporters of another contestant. The deceased was identified as Rabeya Khatun, 55, mother of Azizul Islam, a councillor candidate of Ward No 3 and also the ward Awami League general secretary.

China summons US envoy over Taiwan arms deal 

China has summoned a senior US envoy in protest after Washington announced it would sell two warships to Taiwan. Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang made "solemn representations" with Kaye Lee, the US charge d'affaires, China's foreign ministry said.

Macedonian PM open to dialogue on name
