AL members asked not to use photos in posters

Update : 16 Dec 2015, 09:14 AM

The ruling Awami League has asked its leaders, activists and supporters not to use photos of anyone except Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in billboards, posters, banners and festoons.

The decision was taken at its joint meeting held at the political office of Awami League President Sheikh Hasina in Dhanmondi on Tuesday.

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif briefed journalists after the meeting.

A letter with a directive to this effect was handed over to the presidents and general secretaries of the associate organisations of the ruling party in the meeting, said Mahbub.

The letter signed by Party's General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam noted with “deep concern” that political billboards, posters, banners and festoons with photos of leaders and workers of various levels are being hanged across the country.

“But it is seen that the very small size photos of Bangabandhu and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are displayed on those which is very odd looking,” the letter added.

The letter directed all leaders and workers to immediately remove the billboards, posters, banners and festoons with photos of leaders and workers except Bangabandhu and Sheikh Hasina.

The progress to this end will be monitored for the next one week after the issuance of the letter, party sources said.
