A fire has broken out at a local market in the district's Kapasia upazila.
The fire originated at a shop of Tok Nayan Bazar around 12:30pm Wednesday and soon engulfed 30 other adjacent shops, said Kapasia police station SI Mizanur Rahman said.
Being informed, firefighters rushed in and brought the blaze under control around 2:15pm, said Gazipur Fire Office Deputy Assistant Director Akteruzzaman Liton.
Reason behind the fire and extent of the damage could not be known immediately.
