Rail communication to Dhaka from Chittagong, Sylhet and Kishoreganj has been experiencing suspension as a train derailed at Khanabari Station in Raypura upazila of Narsingdi.
The train derailment took place on Tuesday morning. However, Khanabari Station Master Monir Hossain went into hiding following the accident.
When asked, Raypura Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Abdul Matin said four boogies of Kishoreganj-bound train Egaro Sindur Express, including the locomotive, veered off the tracks around 9:30am, halting train movement on the Dhaka-Chittagong, Dhaka-Sylhet and Dhaka-Kishoreganj routes.
At least 12 people got injured injuries in the accident as well, the UNO continued.
