Railway to build 53km new rail line

The Bangladesh Railway has signed a Tk559 crore rail track construction deal with Mir Akhter-Ranken Joint Venture aiming to ease communication between Pabna and Rajbari, which will also make a role to connect the capital with Northern part of the country via undergoing Padma Bridge. 

The firm will do the construction work of 53.8km main and 3.9km loop lines including construction of level crossing gates and other structures, curve post etc.

Railway (west zone) General Manager Khayrul Alam and Managing Director of Mir Akhter-Ranken JV Mir Nasir Hossain signed the agreement at the Raiway Bhaban in the capital.

Railway Secretary Firoz Salah Uddin presided over the signing ceremony.

Railway Director General Amzad Hossain said the project will be completed within 27 months.
