The Election Commission has sent a letter to the Home ministry to ensure security of the candidates of upcoming municipality elections.
Deputy Secretary of the commission Shamsul Alam said the letter was sent on Thursday afternoon.
Earlier, a BNP delegation met the chief election commissioner and alleged that their candidates were facing arrests and threats.
Elections to the country’s 234 municipalities is slated to be held on December 30.
