State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak has thanked Sazeeb Wajed Joy, ICT Adviser to the prime minister, for his initiative to unblock Facebook in Bangladesh.
The junior minister came up with the thankful statement in a post on his official Facebook page minutes after Facebook was unblocked on Thursday.
He wrote: "Heartiest thanks to the icon of our young generation Mr. Sazeeb Wajed Joy, Honorable ICT Adviser to Honorable Prime Minister, for his great initiative to resume facebook in Bangladesh."
Popular social networking site Facebook has been unblocked in Bangladesh after 22 days.
The temporary ban on the social networking platform came shortly after the Supreme Court rejected review petitions by war criminals SQ Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid on November 18.
Citing security reasons, the government also blocked social networking platforms Whatsapp and Viber.
In Bangladesh, over 15 million people are active Facebook users and the number is rising.
