In a nail-biting finish to the 27th Bangladesh Premier League match, Sylhet Super Stars beat Dhaka Dynamites by six wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
Needing 10 off six balls, Shahid Afridi swept Farhad Reza for two sixes in the fourth and fifth ball of the last over to bring a perfect finish to the game, which also kept Sylhet hanging in the tournament.
In pursuit of 158 runs, Sylhet got off to a bright start with Josh Cobb (15) and Juaned Siddique adding 36 in five overs and they were cruising to their target with left-handed Siddique and Ravi Bopara dispatching the Dynamites bowlers in their 86-run second wicket partnership.
Siddique made 51 from 41 balls with one four and three sixes while Bopara perished after clobbering four fours and equal sixes in his 40-ball 55.
Abul Hasan and Farhad Reza, the two Dhaka seamers, were the most expensive bowlers on the day. Wicketless Hasan gave away 38 runs from his four overs while Reza bagged two wickets but produced 42 runs from 3.5 overs.
Earlier, Kumar Sangakkara (48) and Nasir Hossain (31) put on 69 for the fourth wicket which propelled Dhaka to 157 for five in 20 overs. Opening the innings, Reza also contributed 31 off 28 balls.
Left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak took two for Sylhet while Afridi, Bopara and Mohammad Shahid took one each.
