2 Indians stabbed in Chittagong

Robbers have stabbed two Indian Sikhs and looted Indian rupee 22,000 in Uttarpara area under Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong.

The injured are Jogendra Shil, 50, and Amar Sinha, 55.

Sitakunda OC Iftekhar Hossain said: “A group of 40 Sikhs from India went to Chittagong for a religious programme. The incident took place when they were returning from the programme in four microbuses on Monday night.

“A group of 10 to 12 robbers attacked them when the driver of one of the microbuses stopped the vehicle in Nunachora area around 11:45pm due to technical problem.”

The robbers stabbed two of the passengers and looted Indian rupee 22,000 from their possession.

The OC said nine Shikhs were in the microbus which was attacked by the robbers.

These robbers usually stop vehicle and loot the passengers on the highway, he added.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Mozammel Hoque said Chittagong highway police Sub-Inspector Rakbul Islam rescued them and sent the injured to DMCH around 9:45am Tuesday.

He said they have been released from the hospital after treatment.
