At least 10 people were killed in road accidents in four districts across the country yesterday.
Our Khulna correspondent said two people were killed and three others injured in a head-on-collision between a bus and an easy-bike in Raillgate area of Daulatpur on the Khulna-Jessore Highway.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Local sources said a Kushtia-bound Rupsha Express bus collided with an easy bike coming from opposite direction in-front of private organization Adams in the afternoon, leaving five people injured.
Among them, two succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital.
Meanwhile, police seized the killer bus but its driver managed to flee, said Officer-in-Charge of Daulatpur Police Station Maruf Ahmed. A case was filed with Daulatpur police station in this connection.
In Sylhet, three people were killed and three others injured when a truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Sylhet-Tamabil Road in Sadar upazila, reported our correspondent.
Among the dead, two were Rafiq Miah, 35, and Babul Madan, 30.
Jidan-al-Musa, additional deputy commissioner of police, said a Tamabil-bound truck rammed into the three-wheeler at Pirerbazar point around 10:45pm, leaving three dead on the spot.
The injured were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Our Jamalpur correspondent said two sisters were killed and four others injured in a road accident on the Jamalpur-Dewanganj Road in Kompopur area under Sadar upazila.
The deceased were Pankha, 60, wife of Sahijal at village Bahadurpur in Islampur upazila and her younger sister Hawa Begum, 58, wife of Shahjamal at village Sajimara in Bakshiganj upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a Dewanganj-bound fish-loaded pickup van from Jamalpur town collided head-on with a CNG run auto-rickshaw from opposite direction on the Jhainai Bridge around 7.15 am, leaving six injured.
In Chittagong, three persons were killed in separate accidents in the city’s Karnaphuli area and district’s Chandanaish upazila, reports our correspondent.
The deceased were Sajjad Hossain, 40, Mohiuddin, 22 and Monir Ahmed, 47, said police sources. Of them Mohiuddin was a CNG-run auto rickshaw driver while Monir was a day-labourer.
