Two top officials from Robi and Airtel will meet Tarana Halim, state minister for telecommunications, on Sunday to discuss their merger plan, people familiar with the matter said.
They said the two mobile phone operators were trying to expedite the process towards merger and the issue would be discussed with state minister. Robi and Airtel sources said after the dropping of voluntary retirement scheme option from the merger plan, employees of both companies are worried over their jobs.
Meanwhile, the High Court on November 29 asked the government to assess the market impact of the proposed merger by constituting a commission. The order came following a writ petition filed by a Airtel subscriber.
