Noted politician Sayed Wahidul Islam dies

Sayed Wahidul Islam, a noted politician and uncle of public administration minister Sayed Ashraful Islam died of old-age complications at his residence in Kishoreganj town last night.

He was 76.

Wahidul Islam left behind three sons, five daughters, a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Kishoreganj district town after Johr prayer today and the second one at his village home Beer Dampara. He will be laid to eternal rest at their family graveyard.

President Abdul Hamid has expressed deep shock at the death of Sayed Wahidul Islam, acting president of Kishoreganj Awami League.

In a condolence message today, the President said the nation has lost a patriotic political leader in the death of Wahidul Islam, younger brother of acting President of the country's first interim government in exile Sayed Nazrul Islam, President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS over telephone from Singapore.

"It is an irreparable loss to the nation," said the President who is now in Singapore for checkup.

Hamid prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed sympathy to members of bereaved family.
