Police have recovered the bodies of a couple from their residence in Kawnia of Barisal district.
Slaughtered body of wife and dead body of husband with rope on neck found floor of the bedroom at Kawnia 1st lane area of the city on Tuesday morning.
The deceased are Abdul Khalek, 40, a construction worker and his wife Mukul Begum, 35. She worked as an assistant of an advocate.
Madhabi Bashu, a neighbour, said the couple did not respond even after the local repeatedly knocked in their door on Tuesday morning.
Neighbours claimed that the couple had conflicts for not having children.
However, Mukul's elder sister Rasheda Begum said her sister was married to Abdul for almost 10 years and had no issues among themselves.
Kawnia OC Kazi Mahbubur Rahman said: “On information, police recovered the bodies from their bedroom and sent those to Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College morgue for autopsy.
“The women was slaughtered while a rope was found tied to Abdul's neck.”
He said they were assuming that Abdul committed suicide after slaughtering his wife.
