Update : 27 Nov 2015, 12:39 PM

In wake of Thursday's Shia mosque shooting incident, Australia has announced withdrawal of its government funded volunteers from Bangladesh by December 31.

According to the latest travel advice issued on Friday, the Australian authorities have advised its citizen to exercise a “high degree of caution” in Bangladesh.

The travel advice reads: “The Australian Government has authorised the dependants of posted Australian staff to return to Australia on a voluntary basis, and will withdraw Australian Government funded volunteers by 31 December.”

Referring to the Islamic State's reported claims of responsibility for the attack on Shia devotees at a Bogra mosque, it further stated: “The level of advice has not changed.”

A few months ago, the country advised it citizens to pay close attention to their personal security at all times and monitor the media about possible new safety or security risks.

The move came soon after Australia cricket team delayed their Bangladesh tour for security concerns in September.
