Court: Exhume Japanese woman's body

Update : 26 Nov 2015, 02:17 PM

A Dhaka court has ordered the district magistrate to exhume the body of Japanese citizen Hiroye Miyata for an autopsy.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sheikh Hafiz Rahman passed the order Thursday after hearing a prayer filed by the police.

The court also ordered the district magistrate to appoint an executive magistrate for the exhumation of the body from a grave in Uttara graveyard where she is believed to be buried.

On November 22, the investigation officer of the case, Uttara East police station Officer-in-Charge (investigation) Abu Bakar Mia, filed a petition to exhume the body of Japanese citizen Hiroye Miyata.

Police have so far detained five people for their suspected involvement with the death of Miyata. They are now under a four-day remand in police custody.
