Biman to hire new CEO

Update : 24 Nov 2015, 07:47 PM

Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited has invited applications from deserving Bangladeshi and foreign nationals for appointment to the company as managing director & chief executive officer.

The national flag carrier has been struggling over the past few years to come to terms with the lack of skilled managing director and foreign carriers’ influence in the local aviation market.

Biman authorities assume that its current CEO Kyle Haywood, who is on a prolonged leave since October, might not return. The British national did not even communicate with the management while being on leave. On the other hand he is seeking more leave.

Kyle joined the Biman in last January. The Biman boss was hired to rescue the ailing aviation business, but of no avail. Rather, it continued to go to a further nosedive. The airliner incurred a heavy loss of Tk31.2 crore in the period between February and July when Kyle was at the helms. His continued absence from office took a heavy toll on the national flag carrier.

Under the circumstances, the Biman board of directors, highest policy-making body of the airliner, decided on announcement for a new managing director.

Though Biman has totally brand new aircraft, the carrier continues to experience flight disruptions due to mismanagement.

During his tenure, Kyle has so far enjoyed over two-month leave, ignoring the company’s interest.

Even the CEO did not attend two scheduled board meetings on September 09 and 14, a Biman source said, adding that because of his absence, the meeting was not held.

Finally, he didn’t attend the board of directors meeting held on October 12.

Considering Kyle’s all track record, the Biman management on Monday announced vacancy for a new managing director & CEO.

Interested candidates are requested to send their applications along with a complete CV and photograph by 22 December 2015 to [email protected]
