Missing Japanese citizen found dead, 3 held

Police have recovered the body of a missing Japanese citizen from Dhaka.

The identity of the deceased female could not be ascertained yet.

US issues worldwide travel alert over terror threats

The US has issued a worldwide travel alert for its citizens in response to "increased terrorist threats".

The state department said "current information" suggested the Islamic State [IS] group, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram and others continued "to plan terrorist attacks in multiple regions".

Mirza Fakhrul gets 3-month bail

The High Court has granted a three-month bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three arson and vandalism cases registered with Paltan police station.

A bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Khashruzzaman gave the veridict on Tuesday, in line with disposing three rules in this regard.

5 killed in Comilla road accident

Five people have been killed and another has been injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-run autorickshaw in Foteypur area under Laksam upazila of Comilla district.

The deceased are Jashim Uddin, 30, of Rajapur village, Nasrin, 24, daughter of Ali Akkas of the same village, Mohsena Akhter, 25, wife of Johir Uddin and Rozena Akhter, 20.

Action order against Jamaat controlled financial organisations

Ministry of Finance has asked the Bangladesh Bank authorities to go with necessary measures against the terrorism financing of Jamaat-Shibir controlled institutions, firms and NGOs.

The ministry's Bank and Financial Institutions Division sent a letter to Bangladesh Bank, financial institutions and insurance companies in this regard on Monday.

Turkey expresses sadness over execution

Turkey has expressed its sadness over the execution of war criminals Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujaheed and Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.

“We have learned with sadness that the death sentences given to Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mujaheed, Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Party, and Salauddin Quader Chowdhury, former MP from Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and former Minister, by the Bangladesh International Crimes Tribunal have been carried out,” said a statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
