Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have been deployed in Dhaka and Chittagong from Saturday evening to maintain law and order situation.
BGB Headquarters’ Public Relations Officer Mohammad Mohsin Reza confirmed Dhaka Tribune about the BGB deployment.
“A total of 20 platoons of BGB members were deployed in the capital city of Dhaka and they will be kept on vigil until further directives,” said the official.
Lieutenant Colonel Imarat Hossain, commanding officer of Battalion 28 of BGB told the Dhaka Tribune about the deployment.
The BGB personnel will help law enforcing agencies to maintain law and order situation in two major cities.
According to Ekattor TV, 12 platoons of BGB members were deployed in Chittagong, seven in Rajshahi and five in Cox's Bazar.
The BGB personnel will help police maintain law and order following the recent Appellate Division verdicts that upheld death penalties for war criminals Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahshan Muhammad Mujahid, the BGB officials said.
