A man, who was undergoing treatment being injured with his two family members in a gas pipeline explosion in the capital's Wari area, has succumbed to his injures in Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early Saturday.
Burn victim Alamgir Hossain, 55, died in the burn unit of the hospital around 3am, whose condition was stated to be critical as around 95% of his body was burnt, said DMCH police outpost In-charge Mozammel Haque.
On Thursday midnight, Alamgir, his wife Hosne Ara Begum, 40, and the couple's daughter Sharmin Akter, 21, sustained burn injuries in a fire ensued by a gas pipeline blast in their residence at Dudunath Basak lane on Tipu Sultan Road in the area.
Hosne Ara suffered 45% burn while Sharmin sustained 30% burn in the accident. The family used to live on the second floor of the building.
Inspector Mahmudul Haque, duty officer at Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, said a leak in the pipeline led to the blast.
