Update : 13 Nov 2015, 02:03 PM

British Airways has asked Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar for his full name and address on Twitter, incurring the wrath of millions of his fans.

The cricketing superstar has more than 8.4million followers on Twitter and is one of the best batsmen to ever play the game, but British Airways were unable to confirm his identity.

The cricket legend took the airline to task on Friday morning for what appears to have been a particularly bad experience, with some family members not getting seats and baggage going missing.

On social networking site Twitter, Sachin Tendulkar said

British Airways responded in less than 15 minutes with what seems to be its templated answer to complaints. Only the airline had not accounted for Sachin's 8.4 million followers on Twitter.

British Airways or BA is now the top India trend for having tweeted

An onslaught has followed with Sachin fans ripping into the British airliner with tweets, angry and funny.

Last year, tennis superstar Maria Sharapova was attacked by Sachin fans for having revealed that she had no idea who Tendulkar was. Within hours, 'Who is Maria Sharapova' had top trended on Twitter.

Friday, that storm had fresh recall.

Sachin Tendulkar, 42, is currently in the United States playing in the Cricket All-Stars series along with other all-time greats from different countries. He remains the world's highest run-getter and the country's favourite sportsman.
