Nur Hossain to be produced in court anytime

Update : 13 Nov 2015, 06:25 AM

Police will produce seven-murder case prime accused Nur Hossain before a Narayanganj court anytime on Friday, showing him arrested in 13 cases.

District Police Super D Khandakar Mohiuddin said: “Nur Hossain will be produced before the court today as 13 cases filed against him are pending.”

He said arrest warrants were also issued against Nur in all the cases.

Nur was handed over to BGB 26 Battalion Deputy Commander Maj Liakat Ali around 11:32pm Thursday.

He was brought back to Bangladesh a day after Ulfa leader Anup Chetia was handed over to the Indian government.

On April 27, 2014, Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam and six others were abducted. Later, their bodies were recovered from Shitalaykha river on April 30. Nazrul’s wife filed an abduction case against Nur and several others on April 28.

The government later arrested the suspected RAB officials, but Nur fled to India, allegedly with the help of local MP Shamim Osman.

On June 15, 2014, the West Bengal police arrested Nur with some of his accomplices from Kolkata. He had been in Indian custody since then.
