Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is planning to introduce a three-shift duty for police officials instead of the existing two-shift duty at checkpoints.
The DMP is also considering deploying at least five members at each checkpoint.
The decision was considered at yesterday’s monthly conference of the DMP headed by its Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia. It was attended by officers-in-charge of 49 police stations of Dhaka and other officials.
The plan was discussed in the wake of the killing of a policeman in Ashulia recently.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (media) Muntasirul Islam said the conference discussed several other important issues.
