Summit Power Ltd (SPL) has been awarded the ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence 2014 in the energy and Power Companies category.
This is the second consecutive year that the Summit Power has achieved the honour.
Ayesha Aziz Khan, Finance Director and Lt Gen (Retd) Abdul Wadud, Managing Director, of the Summit Power received the award from Chief Guest and Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith at the Grand Ball Room, Sonargaon Hotel on Tuesday.
The award was given based on the annual reports of companies and other authentic sources of information evaluated by a technical committees.
A Jury Board of eminent personalities committed to sound corporate governance approved the award.
It should be noted that Summit Power and its subsidiary company Summit Purbanchol Power Co Ltd (SPPCL) received first and second ICMAB Best Corporate Award-2014 respectively.
Summit Power Ltd also received the prestigious Global CSR Excellence and Leadership Award presented by the World CSR Congress in Mumbai, India in February 2015.
Last year, Summit Meghnaghat Power Company Limited (SMPCL), subsidiary of Summit Group received the Best Power Generation Project award under the private sector power generation projects category during the National Electricity Week-2014.
The award was handed over by the President Advocate Abdul Hamid to Muhammed Aziz Khan, chairman of Summit Group.
Summit Power received the second prize for ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence, 2013 in the category of General Manufacturing Sector last year.
Summit Group is the first Independent Power Producer (IPP) of Bangladesh and is currently contributing the highest amount of electricity from the private sector (more than 12%) to national grid.
