Two-day Denim expo begins in city today

A two-day Bangladesh Denim Expo will begin today to promote Bangladeshi brands to the global market and share knowledge with the international producers to get acquainted with the latest technologies.

The Expo will be held on November 11-12 at the International Convention City, Bashundhara, in the capital. Denim Expert Limited, a domestic denim producer, will host the international Denim Trade Show to popularise the brand in international denim industry, said a press release yesterday.

“We are going to organise the expo in greater scale after getting a huge response from across the world during the last Bangladesh Denim Expo on May this year,” said the Founder and CEO of Bangladesh Denim Expo, Mostafiz Uddin. 

The objective of the Expo is not only to promote the denim trade in the country but also to encourage better business practice for raising better living standard, he added.

A total of 39 companies are participating in the event. Of them, 10 are international companies from China, India, Pakistan, USA, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Singapore and Germany. The theme of the Expo is “Sustainable Denim”. It will highlight eco-sustainable denim developments, consumer trends and sustainability in denim design and accessories.

The mega event will feature a trend zone, displaying latest and future denim trends.

It will have several seminars on “Branding through green denim (Environmental Sustainability)”, “Safe and responsible supply chain”, “Innovating sustainable denim for new generation market” and “Sustainable wet processing”.

In addition, experts from home and abroad will address all aspects of sustainability ranging from manufacturing to dying and wet-processing in four seminars and one panel discussions during the expo.

The panel discussions will be held on “Building leaders for sustained growth”. BGMEA, BUFT, CBI, C&A, H&M, GIZ, IFC, BENETTON, WRAP are the seminar partners.

The expo will conclude with a formal closing ceremony followed by a gala night.

The prime minister’s adviser on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Towfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury will be the Guest of Honor in the closing ceremony along with other distinguished guest panel.
